Thoughts of egg-laying and grub-scratching are banished as we spot a fox circling our henhouse. Our eyes widen and we wonder how to escape. One of us realizes she doesn’t need to run faster than the fox — just faster than the rest of us. Mildred always was the smartest in the coop.
In this painting I strove to make a potentially serious subject (for the chickens) into something a little more humorous.
